EXECUTIVE MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Kenyatta King- Fashion Designer & Owner of Laced Affair

What’s In A Name?

Kenyatta King is a Fashion Designer, Seamstress, Style Advisor, and Artist based out of Detroit, Michigan. Named after her father Jomo, whose name comes from the founding father of Kenya– Jomo Kenyatta– Kenyatta is the owner of Laced Affair, a custom couture clothing brand. Kenyatta’s handmade designs include trendy casual wear, one-of-a-kind swimwear, delicately laced lingerie, edgy streetwear, made-to-order prom gowns and bespoke fashion pieces. 

On-The-Job Training

Kenyatta first started Laced Affair in 2015, taking clients with very little experience and learning along the way. Despite almost giving up, Kenyatta couldn’t ignore her passion for creating. Recently, Kenyatta showcased her designs at the Detroit Fashion Community’s Sweet Summer Social with an overwhelmingly positive response from some of Michigan’s top fashion designers and industry professionals.

Kenyatta’s designs compliment a woman’s body in a uniquely artistic way. Her signature lace details bring an extra sparkle to each collection and her artistic creativity is laced into each design.
