The Detroit Fashion Community took home the 2024 Detroit Fashion Choice Award for Fashion Organization of the Year! Hats off to every board member, committee member, and DFC member that contributed to the success of the organization!

Speaking of hats, on February 7, the Detroit Fashion Community invited fashion professionals, enthusiasts, socialites, influencers, business owners, and corporate leaders to wear a hat, and bring a hat (or a scarf, coat, or gloves) to donate to the ‘Building Better Men Foundation’, dedicated to empowering and supporting young men ages 8-17 in their journey towards personal and professional growth.

From vintage Mr. Song Millinery, to custom creations from local designers, to beautiful thrifted finds, the Detroit Fashion Community did not disappoint. All proceeds from the ‘Wear A Hat, Bring A Hat’ themed #dfcconnects will be donated to purchasing hats, coats and gloves for the young men in the "Building Better Men Foundation". The DFC will also match those donations to purchase additional hats, gloves and coats.

Designated as the ‘Gem of Detroit’ by Detroiters and visitors alike, the luxurious and elegant Hotel St. Regis opened its doors to the Detroit Fashion Community for the evening. La Musique, the Hotel Saint Regis lobby, provided a swank, and lively atmosphere to network and build relationships. Crowned in the heart of New Center Detroit, the landmark hotel’s newest addition, BLVD Lounge, was the centerpiece of night, innately drawing every attendee to its exquisitely designed, circular bar.

The DFC also celebrated the official launch of its 2023 Flashback Yearbook. This keepsake celebrates a year of style and innovation with the Detroit Fashion Community! Contributions to this endeavor play a crucial role in supporting the DFC's initiatives for educating and supporting the fashion community. To top off an incredible evening, DJ Jay Lavon kept the vibes consistent throughout the night.

The DFC was also honored to receive a Black Leaders Detroit $5,000 grant on day 9 of their Black History Month Grant Giveaway. In case you missed it, click here to watch the moment we were awarded the grant!
