The Detroit Fashion Community is seeking creative, self-motivated, experienced writers/bloggers to contribute to The DFC Blog. This platform allows local fashion writers to gain portfolio expansion while nourishing Detroit’s Fashion community with resources for creatives to thrive in any discipline of the industry.​

How To Get Started…

Those interested in submitting to the DFC Blog must submit a formal writing sample for consideration. Please attach a 200-500 word writing sample that is relative to topics the DFC Blog currently covers. Feel free to provide links and/or attach a word/pdf file. 

NOTE: If you do not have previous work but would like to submit a new piece for consideration, please be sure that you are submitting a piece written specifically for The Detroit Fashion Community Blog. All work must be original and proofread for grammatical and spelling errors.

Before You Submit: We are a community establishing a reputation of eminent expertise thus, please be well researched and have a distinct opinion about what you’re submitting. Also, please search to see if we have already published something similar.

Photography: Please only submit accompanying photos that are original, high-resolution, and have not been previously published anywhere online, in print, or any other forms of social media.​ If you are submitting previously published photos, please provide ALL photography credits.

Share a “Day-in-the-life’ or profile an industry professional, develop a human interest story or lifestyle-enhancement post.

Arts, Entertainment & Culture

Dive into the newest and most fashionable in Detroit music, movies, television, books with a concentration on local talent in Detroit’s fashion industry, reviews and ratings of aesthetically pleasing hot spots, restaurants and underground destinations are welcome!. ​​

Business/Career

Explore the business of Fashion with Entrepreneurial and career advice, finance tips, and industry news and analyses. 

Submission Guidelines

When writing your blog post consider:

  1. The DFC’s goal is to establish Detroit as a reputable, global fashion hub 

  2. What is YOUR perspective?

  • Consider why you are interested in writing this post. What is your connection to the topic?

  • Is The Detroit Fashion Community the audience for your post?

  • Have you identified any potential biases within your content?

  • Have you taken time to research background information or historical context to accurately inform your perspective?

What To Submit

Historical background and artistic context of Detroit, posts beyond traditional fashion features. Consider new, fresh, and relevant emerging trends and fashion news; and expert, up-to-date advice and recommendations.
