The Detroit Fashion Community made a huge splash at the first Sweet Summer Social Fashion Show and Fundraiser! This special Summer edition of the monthly DFC Connects networking event was hosted at southeast Michigan’s premier Black-owned marine facility– the Detroit Riverside Marina.

On March 1, 2023 Members of the Detroit Fashion Community and Detroit’s Riverside Marina came together for Detroit’s hottest pool party and networking fundraiser of the summer! Fashion models, designers, entrepreneurs, socialites, and creatives from metro-Detroit raised money to fund supportive efforts for Detroit’s emerging fashion industry while dressed in vacation-chic, pool party-ready fashions.

The poolside fashion show kicked off at sunset and showcased Resort and Swimwear Collections from Siana Trice, Laced Affairs, Yube Handmade, and Bee Swimwear. Each collection was accessorized with designer eyewear from the futuristic and fashionable Solar Flair Eyewear. Other designers, and fashion business owners like Lavish The Lifestyle, Mindful Bee, and Waist Bead Envy also came out to showcase their hottest designs at the Summer style celebration of the season! VIP guests enjoyed front row seats to the Sweet Summer Social fashion show in luxury cabanas and resort lounge seats.

After the sunset swimwear showcase, guests danced along the beautiful riverside coastline – with opulent views of the Detroit River and Canada’s skyline– to the summer sounds of two DJs– the DFC’s own B. Colvin, and MGM Grand Casino Detroit’s resident DJ– DJ Mike Todd

No party is complete without tasty summer treats! Back by popular demand, the mobile Crêperie and catering company, Crêpe City Detroit, provided savory, made-to-order, French crêpes, Westside Water Ice pulled up to serve decadent Vegan Friendly Water Ice and Gourmet Ice Cream, and even more summertime sweets were provided by Motor City Popcorn and Coach Hale’s Banana Pudding!

The Detroit Fashion Community's first Summer Social Fashion Show and Fundraising event was a sweet success!

A huge thanks to all who attended and the generous event sponsors: Detroit Riverside Marina, Detroit By Design, CanvasxDetroit, Roche Beauty, Hair Bossy, and Raymond Carlos!
